Holobuild

Bedrock Holobuild's blueprints on your dashboard, and its builds in Discord.

What it does

Bedrock Holobuild is an add-on of its own: it saves builds as blueprints and shows players, block by block, how to build a copy. Get it from CurseForge; its own docs explain everything it does in game. When a world has both Holobuild and BedrockRelay:

  • its blueprints are on the world's Blueprints tab on your dashboard, where you can download each one as a .mcstructure file, or upload a structure file to make a new one. This is the only way out of the game for a blueprint if you play on a phone or a console.
  • each build going in the world gets a card in Discord, with a picture of what's being built, that keeps up with it: how far it's got, who's building and on which layer, and when it's finished.

It needs BedrockRelay 0.14.0 or newer on a dedicated server, or the Realm pack 1.7.0 or newer on a Realm. On a Realm, our bot carries everything, so it has to be in the Realm: it joins when someone starts playing.

Downloading and uploading blueprints

The Blueprints tab shows once Holobuild has said hello from the world, and only to the world's owner. The world has to be running.

  • Download .mcstructure fetches the blueprint from the world, which takes a few seconds for a big one, and saves it as a file. Open it in a structure block in any Bedrock world, or keep it to upload elsewhere. Places where the blueprint has nothing are left empty in the file, so loading it never clears what's around it.
  • Upload a structure takes a structure file and Holobuild makes a blueprint from it, named after the file. Players in the world are told. It can be a .mcstructure from Bedrock (a structure block or another world), or one made for Java Edition: a Litematica .litematic, a WorldEdit .schem or older .schematic, or a structure block's .nbt. Java blocks become their Bedrock versions, facing the same way; the few Bedrock doesn't have are left out, and the tab lists them. A Litematica file with several regions becomes one blueprint, with the regions where they were. Chest contents, signs' writing and mobs aren't carried over.
  • A blueprint can be at most 64 blocks across, as structures in the game are, and a world keeps up to 40. An upload can be up to 256 blocks across and 64 high: anything wider than 64 goes in as pieces of about the same size, named "Castle 1 of 4", "Castle 2 of 4" and so on, to build side by side. The tab checks first that the world has room for every piece. Blocks the world's version of Minecraft doesn't know are left out, and the tab lists them.

Files are only passed through: BedrockRelay keeps an upload until the world has it, and a download for 15 minutes, in memory only.

Builds in Discord

Tick Holobuild builds on a channel's route (see Channels and events). A channel that gets every event, or that got Other addons before, has it already. That channel then gets:

  • a card for each build as it starts, with a picture of the blueprint, updated every 15 seconds or so while it changes: how many blocks are right, any that are wrong, and each builder with their layer and how many blocks they've placed;
  • the card turning green when the build is finished, with how long it took, or grey when it's stopped;
  • a card for each new blueprint, with its picture, saved in the game, made from a structure, or uploaded from the dashboard.

The picture is drawn by BedrockRelay from the blueprint, so it shows what the build will look like, not how far it's got. On a big blueprint it can take a moment to appear. Private blueprints get no card at all. Coordinates are never posted. Deleting a card in Discord stops it being updated.
